THE GLOBAL SCALE OF ENGLISH
The new curriculum was built using the Global Scale of English Learning Objectives, a globally recognized standard in language education developed by Pearson, the world’s largest education company.
The Global Scale of English (GSE) is the world’s first truly global English language standard that allows people to measure progress accurately and easily. It’s aligned to other scales of language progression including the CEFR, but it measures progress on a much smaller scale. This helps you take small steps and see progress more quickly, which keeps you motivated and on track.
The Global Scale of English Learning Objectives are based on real life use of the language. If you are at 31 on the scale, you should be able to use simple phrases to order a meal. At 74 you should be able to understand complex arguments in newspaper articles.
The GSE scale ranges from 10 to 90. Our curriculum starts begins with people just starting—a GSE score of 10—and goes to GSE 84 at the top end.
Using the GSE Learning Objectives, here is what language you will achieve in each Stage:
Stage 1 is for beginners. The language and exercises provide you with the basic framework for recognizing and using simple vocabulary and responding to basic questions in English. At the end of this stage you will be able to write a simple email or online post. You will achieve a GSE 21 at the end of this stage.
In Stage 2 you will learn to express yourself in everyday situations to accomplish basic tasks such as self-introduction and asking for directions. You will combine the language you’ve learned previously to write and speak with greater fluency. At the end of this stage you will be a GSE 29.
You continue to build your skills in Stage 3. At this stage you can hold a conversation with a good degree of fluency and read simple books and newspapers. You can clearly say your opinion and discuss every day, practical issues in a conversation. At the end of this stage you will be a GSE 42.
At Stage 4, you can communicate with a high degree of fluency and are able to comprehend complex ideas expressed in English. At the end of this stage you will be a GSE 58.
In Stage 5 you will build your conversational fluency, writing proficiency, and reading ability through advanced exercises. At the end of this stage you will be a GSE 75.
In Stage 6 you will continue to improve fluency and master complex language, phrases, and expressions. At the end of this stage you will be a GSE 84.
By using the GSE Learning Objectives to develop our new curriculum, we can clearly say what language you will learn with each lesson and what level of English you can achieve based on your goals. You will get regular Assessments from your teachers to ensure you are meeting these objectives. You will also be able to track your progress in your new Student Dashboard to help keep you motivated and on track.
Our new curriculum is effective and offers clear results. You will learn English, guaranteed.
